Cider was the common drink on the farms of south-east Wales and the Marches as well as in many inns.
A selection of traditional equipment used for producing cider is shown in this building.
The most important piece is the circular stone mill with the massive trough in which ran a horse-driven edge-runner stone. These mills were introduced in the 17th century but this example from Llanigon, Powys, dates from the 19th century, and was last used about 1900.
The heavy wooden cider press comes from Partrishow, Powys, and was probably made in the early 19th century.
